Ghoulish Gathering Games

Party, Styling, Text and Photos by Sara Schmutz of Confetti Sunshine

We love party games! And, most of the time, they are easy to change to match whatever party theme you’ve created. For our Ghoulish Gathering we came up with three fun party games that your guests are sure to love.

Pumpkin vs. Ghost Relay

This puts a spin on the classic relay game. Each team must run the balloons, one at a time, to their teammate on the opposite side of the room. The team to get all their balloons across the room first, wins!

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Use your Balloon Time Helium Tank to inflate a handful of orange and white latex balloons. We used five of each color.
  2. Tie a string to each balloon.
  3. Using a black paint pen or sharpie marker, draw faces on your pumpkin and ghost balloons.
  4. Tape each group of balloons to the wall on one side of the room.
  5. Split the kids into two teams and put them by the wall of balloons.
  6. Take one player from each team and put them on the opposite side of the room.

Find the Pumpkin

This game is fun for all ages. Have each participant try their luck at picking the balloon with a pumpkin sticker to win a prize!

Supplies:

Instructions:

  1. Use your Balloon Time Helium Tank to inflate a bunch of balloons. You will need more than how many kids are at your party. Each child need to be able to choose a balloon each round.
  2. Next, buy or make some pumpkin stickers. We just used some one inch round stickers from our local office supply store, colored them orange, and then put a pumpkin face on them. Be sure to have a couple stickers on hand, just in case. Place a pumpkin sticker on the top of one balloon.
  3. Have the kids leave the room while you set up the balloons. Place the balloon all across the room, with their strings hanging down low enough for the party guests to grab them.
  4. Have the kids all come into the room and grab a balloon. Everyone then gets to look at their balloon to see who was the lucky one who found the pumpkin. Play the game again and again!

Tip: If you are using more than one color of balloons, be sure to move your pumpkin around after each round. You don’t want the kids to know what color the pumpkin is going to be on. Our office supply stickers were easy to peel off and move to a different balloon.

Tombstone Topple

One at a time, let the kids toss the pumpkin balloon at the tombstones to see how many they can topple over. Balloons are tricky to toss, which just adds to the fun. The kid who is able to topple over the most tombstones, wins!

Supplies:

  • 1 orange latex balloon
  • Tombstones
  • Green crepe paper

Instructions:

  1. Make a handful of our fun tombstones and place them up along a wall. (Find out how to make the tombstones here).
  2. Blow up an orange balloon for your tossing pumpkin.
  3. Tie some twisted green crepe paper around the top to mimic a pumpkin stem.
  4. Have each child line up for a turn.
